Retreat Timetable

Retreat Timetable

A typical retreat timetable consists of periods of sitting and walking meditation throughout the day. Depending on the retreat there will be Dhamma talks and Q&A sessions to help support a Yogis practice. Meals are typically provided, consisting of a morning and before midday meal.

Noble Silence

Noble Silence is observed at all retreats. This means no talking or non-verbal communication of any kind, including the use of electronic devices, except in the case of emergencies and discussion times with the Teacher.

Noble Silence is critical for settling the mind by reducing the number of distractions, and allowing the mind to maintain longer states of present moment awareness. It serves as an essential foundation allowing for deeper insights within the meditation practice.

Every yogi is expected to participate in the retreat schedule. Having a structure allows consistency in the practice to develop extended periods of mindfulness  and minimize the minds impulsive nature.

Yogis are required to follow the eight monastery precepts of harmlessness, trustworthiness, chastity, right speech, sobriety, renunciation of meals after midday, restraint from sensual entertainment, and maintaining alertness by avoiding luxurious seats and beds.

Yogis have the opportunity to attend a Dhamma discussion and Q&A session offered most days. The Q&A session allows yogis to receive clarification on their meditation technique and guidance based on their meditation experiences.
